Club Background

WALDO COUNTY RANGERS

Our Charter

The club was organized as a non-profit Corporations under the laws of the State of Maine, in March 2007.  It's mission was to promote the sport of Western style shooting and provide education in safe handling of such firearms.  The primary sport began with Cowboy Fast Draw and the Club was accepted as an Official sanctioned club of the Cowboy Fast Draw Association, LLC.  It is the first club of the organization east of the Mississippi River and currently the only sanctioned club on the east coast.

History of Our Club
 
    The club was founded by members of the Twenty-ninth Georgia Infantry, a Confederate Civil War Re-enacting club in March of 2007.
    After a long delay in recieving it's targets and timers the club finally began hosting shoots beginning with the Penobscot County Championship at Hampden in August and then co-hosted the Downeast Championship in Blue Hill in September 2007. 
   It hosted the first State Championship on the east coast in May 2008.  In July 2009, the club merged with the Twenty-ninth Georgia to form one corporation.

Elections were held in October 2007 and expire in 2010. 
The term for directors are five years.  In July 2009, the Waldo County Rangers and Twenty-ninth Georgia Infantry (Maine non-profit corporations) voted to merge into one corporation.  The merger is expected to be complete by October 1st, 2009, both groups will operate under a joint Board of Directors until the Elections in 2010.  The purpose of the groups will essential stay the same.
