Cowboy Fast Draw Association
(cfda)
The Cowboy Fast Draw Association is the main sponsor
of the Waldo County Rangers. It is now one of the fastest western sports in the U.S. The sport had it's start
in the old west and reorganized in 2004 as the sport of cfda. The nationals are held near Boise Idaho and the World
titles in Deadwood, South Dakota.
It is the more affordable western style sport
that requires basically just a 45 caliber western style pistol with a period style holster and belt. The period costume
is encouraged but not required. The game is played man on man, or woman and woman and sometimes mixed. It uses
a special shell case that holds a shotgun primer and fires a sanctioned waxed bullet.
Membership is not the least expensive but well
worth the fee of $55 per year and $45 thereafter. Members get their badge, pins and a number of decals to use. A
membership allows you to participate in sanctioned matches and claim prizes. Thousands of dollars worth of prizes are
given out at various events such as the World titles, Nationals and State matches.
In the future you may no longer have to wait or send
applications to the headquarters in Boise. The Waldo County Rangers have petitioned to become official recruiters.
You will be able to get your membership kit including badges right at the matches or in person. More information as
this process developes.
