Directions to Ranges

WALDO COUNTY RANGERS

The club has two ranges about 3-4 miles a part.  They are known as "Fort Waldo" (or the main range) and the "Village Range".

A majority of our monthly matches are held at the village range as it is an indoors range.  Our major matches are held at Fort Waldo.  During the warm weather we try to shoot at Fort Waldo but with inclement weather or buggy conditions we will move the shoot to the village range without forewarning.  They are close enough that you simply need to go to the other range if you can't find us at one.

DIRECTIONS:

Fort Waldo:
From Bangor and North, take Route 1A to Winterport.  The range will be about 3 miles on the right after the townline with Hampden.  You will see a Cell Phone Tower across the road and you will see high tension power lines crossing the road over the hill(turn before these as we are before the top of the hill).  There will also be a crossroad "Hackett Rd" on the right and "Upper Oak Point Rd"on the left.  We are 200' after the cross Road on the right.

From I-95 from the South or coming from the west.  Take Exit 174 and bear right on to Route 69.  Go to the end of the route into Winterport. This will feel like 10 miles, you will have two dangerous crossroads along the way.  At the flashing caution light at the end of 69 you will turn left on to US Route 1A.  Follow it through town for about six miles the range will be on the left.  You will see high tension power lines crossing the road and a cell tower which is across the road from the range.
"Always Green Nursury" is on left before the hill.  You want to to be in the left passing line by the time you get over the hill with left turn signal on.  Look for the CFDA sign.

Village Range

The Village Range is small but we have been able to handle 11-13 shooters in the dead of winter, more in warmer weather.  It is the backup range to Fort Waldo with bad weather.

To get to the Village range is fairly easy.  From the north follow the same directions as to Fort Waldo except continue on into town.  In the center of Town you will see a defunct church on the right and another across the road on a hill.  Turn left on to Kaler Street immediately after the church. We are the green house on left. (second house on left.)

From the south or I-95, (again follow the directions as for Fort Waldo) once on 1A in Town, go about 1/4 mile and you will see a library on the left and the firehouse on the right.  We are the next street on the right past the firehouse.
